Lead capture reality

What a badge scan actually tells you.

You rented the scanners, staffed the booth, and captured every badge that walked past. Here is the complete record that reaches your CRM: a name, a company, a title, and an email address. Everything that made the conversation worth having stayed in your rep's head.

Two records of the same conversation.

Thirty seconds apart. Only one of them is the one your company keeps.

What your rep knew, thirty seconds earlier In the room
  • Evaluating a multi-site rollout, two locations
  • Q4 timeline, budget already owned
  • Currently on a competitor, frustrated with support response times
  • Asked for a security overview before anything else
  • Can bring her ops lead into a review
  • Stopped at the booth because of the fleet product, not the one we led with

Recorded nowhere.

The failure you never see

Some scans capture nothing, and nobody finds out until the show is over.

Walk-up registrations arrive after the pre-registration list was cut. Whether their badge resolves depends on a sync between systems that were never designed to talk to each other, often a file someone is updating by hand while the doors are open.

When that has not happened yet, the scan returns nothing. Your rep does not get an error. They get a lead that quietly never existed, and they move on to the next conversation believing it was captured.

By the time anyone reconciles the list, the show is over and nobody remembers which conversation is missing.

No record returned

No error shown to the rep. No flag in the export. The conversation happened, and there is nothing to indicate it did.

Why we can say this

We built the workaround.

ExpoGenie provides lead retrieval at events. We know precisely what it takes to make a single QR code resolve: a registration platform, an on-site badging system, a lead-retrieval database, and a person keeping all three aligned by hand while attendees are queuing. We have run the support line during show hours.

None of that is any vendor's fault. It is what the architecture requires. It is also the ceiling of what that architecture can deliver, and the ceiling is a business card.

That ceiling is why we are building Relay.

If you run events rather than exhibit at them, the operational side of this is covered on For Event Organizers.

What it costs your sales team

The gap does not show up at the booth. It shows up in the pipeline.

Follow-up is generic

Your rep cannot reference what was discussed, because nothing recorded it. So the email references the event instead of the conversation, and it reads like every other post-show email in that inbox.

Qualification is a guess

Scoring happens days later from memory, or from whoever has the loudest recollection. The conversations that mattered most look identical in the export to the ones that did not.

Nothing compounds

Next year a different rep meets the same buyer and starts from zero. Everything learned in person stayed with the person who learned it, and it left when they moved accounts.

What Relay changes

The scan stops being the lead.

Relay does not fix badge printing, registration sync, or the gaps between event vendors. Those stay exactly where they are. What changes is that your record of the conversation no longer depends on any of it.

Still true

The badge may not resolve. The sync may be late. The vendor stack is what it is.

Now also true

Your rep captures what was discussed in the moment. Identity attaches from a badge, a QR code, a business card, or typed in. If the badge resolves, it enriches the record. If it does not, you still have the conversation, the qualification, the next step, and the CRM activity.

You stop depending on the one part of the day you do not control.

Early access

Bring your in-person conversations into the revenue system.

Relay is preparing for early access with selected event organizers, exhibitors, and field sales teams. Join the list to help shape the product and be first in line.

  • Capture every meaningful in-person conversation
  • Turn it into structured, CRM-ready intelligence
  • Follow up faster and measure the impact
